Date 26 th /March/2018 To Cde Ayuel Taupiny Malek SSSAK’s Interim President, Nairobi-Kenya.   Decline to the position of being legal Advisor (SSSAK’s government) Dear sir, First and foremost, let me take this opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the trust you bestowed on me dated 25 th , March,2018. I would wish to serve with you together in this interim leadership sir unfortunately, that wouldn’t work & with due respect, I am here by humbly declining to accept the opportunity offered by your humble leadership, that is by appointing me as your legal ad visor. As a friend and Cde whom I do many things with, we have long way to go and as such, it is the right and high time to put into practice justice, fairness or equal representation in the system that we always claim as young leaders who have that tendency that would later change the deteriorating political situation in our country, South Sudan.     A journalist was attacked by a political leader in Cape Town, South Africa on 20 March while covering a story outside the parliament. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joins its affiliate the Media Workers' Association of South Africa (WASABI) in condemning the attack and demanding respect for press freedom in the country. On Tuesday 20 March, journalist Adrian De Kock, working for Netwerk24, was attacked outside the parliament in Cape Town by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president Floyd Shivambu as De Kock took a picture of him and asked for a comment. Shivambu then proceeded to attack him with two other men, demanding he deletes the photo and trying to break his equipment. While welcoming the politician’s apology, IFJ president Philip...

OPEN LETTER TO HON. EZEKIEL LOL GATKUOTH

Image
By   Amb. Telar Ring Deng I write this open letter in response to the most unfortunate incendiary allegations widely circulated by Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth and register my utmost disgust and dismay at the allegations posited against my person and circulated to all and sundry with the sole purpose of tarnishing my name. For starters, it is a fact that is within public domain that my father in law, the late Gen. Andrew Makur Thou has been ailing and was hospitalized in Khartoum. My visit to Sudan was made public from the day I arrived. It is quite unfortunate that you chose to take advantage of this most unfortunate event when we are mourning the passing on of a gallant South Sudanese elder who is also my father in law to spin rhetoric from your very narrow political lenses. Just to put matters into proper perspective, upon learning of the death of Gen. Makur, the 1st Vice President and Prime Minister of Sudan, H.E. Bakri Hassan Saleh wh...

A South Sudanese observer warned that simmering wrangles on the country’s oil resources between President Kiir’s group and the opposition faction led by his first deputy Taban Deng Gai are likely to affect the unity government. Dr. Jok Madut Jok, Co-founder of the South Sudanese think-tank, the Sudd Institute, told Radio Tamazuj today that he sees differences between the two groups over the use of oil wealth, while pointing to sings of completion between them. “Ultimately there will be problems between the two groups. Taban Deng’s group has recently declined to pay money to a company belonging to Kiir’s community after supplying fuel to the country and instead awarded a contract to a foreign company based in Uganda,” he said. Jok claimed that some local companies have recently emerged and nobody knows their background. “When the resources become scarce, the two groups will definitely differ,” he said. Jok said the current unity governme...
