DJIBOUTI DISPATCH SOUTH SUDAN



Djibouti bagged a comfortable 2-0 win over South Sudan in their 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers play-off on Wednesday night at the Stade El Hadj Hassan Gouled City in Djibouti.

Although there were no goals in the opening half, the second stanza saw the Shoremen of the Red Sea pouncing twice to seal their win.
The defeat for the Falcons of Jediane means they will now have to fight harder in the second leg and ensure they overturn the scoreline to their favour.

However, scoring three goals without conceding will not be an easy task, but playing in front of their home supporters could be an advantage.


The winner of the second match is set to qualify and join Group C where there is Mali, Gabon and Burundi.

Both sides are set to renew their rivalry in the return leg which is slated for next week Tuesday, 28 March at Juba Stadium in South Sudan.

SPLA IO commander in Tombura apologizes for crime

An SPLA IO commander in the former Western Equatoria has apologized to the people of Tombura for crimes his forces may have committed during the conflict in the state. Tombura is one of the states that have been affected by the conflict, especially following the renewed clashes in the July of 2016 According to UN, the conflict between the government forces and opposition groups affected local people, mostly in the Equatoria and Upper Nile regions. Arrested Bor youth released without charge

Seven youths from Jonglei State who were arrested in Juba by national security officials have finally been released, a community leader said. Deng Dau Deng, deputy chairperson of the greater Bor community, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that seven youth were released on Sunday. “All the arrested youth from Bor have been released without charge because they were arrested for administrative issues. Three people were released last month and seven others were released two days ago,” Dau said. Dau, who is also a lawmaker in Juba, said the youth were released to give the national dialogue process a chance. Multiple sources said earlier that the arrested youths were deemed critical of Kiir’s administration.
