FVP Taban Deng Gai provides food aid to kodok Area in Upper Nile Sate

South Sudanese first vice president Taban Deng Gai has released food aid to over 30,000 Internally Displaced Persons in Kodok area in Upper Nile state. The First vice President claimed the IDPs in Kodok area are in dire need of food, shelter and clean water to drink. Taban Deng Gai said the assistance should be attributed to the government although it came out of his pocket. ‘We have heard the cry of our IDPs and we are working hard to make sure that their needs are met. There are so many IDP camps in the country and we will extend our hand to these camps”, He said.

The source said that Taban Deng Gai visited the area early last week just for a day week to make himself familiar with the IDPS ,deteriorating situation .In his speech he urged the people of south sudan not to blame the suffering of the IDPs  the government  only as they were led into their current situation by the war between the forces and the rebels .Taban said short term food relief is to be availed in the IDP camps by the government  soon and our long term plan is to get them out of the camps and resettle  them so that they won,t be sleeping in schools and churches but in their homes .

people  in kodok area have been facing humanitarian crisis  due to  current political and insurgency which have results  to shortages  of food  ,water and other basic necessities .As for now they have something to hang on until the government decides  to return them back to their homes  and  give them assistance .The area is dominated by many people who fled violence from Shilluk Wau area .Food and water are the major issues affecting them  in the area .

Taban Deng Gai provided the food aid yesterday after he spent a week in Juba figuring out how they were going to help the IDPs in Kodok area. This is a great move by the national as such emergencies need immediate response. The youths in Kondok area are thanking him for the great job he did. Taban represents the government and we believe that anything he does must have the government behind it. We urge our leaders as Citizens of South Sudan to have the heart of Taban Deng and assist their people during hard times.
