500 cows stolen in fresh Duk Padiet raid

About 500 cows were stolen during a raid in Duk Padiet County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Friday, local officials said.
Duk Padiet County Commissioner Martin Matien Gumwel told Radio Tamazuj Saturday that gunmen raided Alingdiir area and drove away about 500 cows.
“Local youth responded to recover the stolen animals but unfortunately they could not recover them. There was no armed confrontation with the raiders,” he said.
Commissioner Matien pointed out that no one was hurt in the incident. He accused armed bandits from neighboring Boma State of launching the attack.
The reported attack happens barely two months after suspected armed bandits from Boma State launched two separate attacks in Duk Payuel and Jalle areas in Jonglei State, where at least14 people lost their lives.
